AIDA Confirms Increased Interest of Foreign Investors to Invest in Albania

Albanian Agency for Investment Development (AIDA) says that a persistent and increasing interest from foreign investors, in undertaking new ventures in Albania is noted, while only this year they reached 67 in such sectors as mining, wholesale trade , energy etc. According to AIDA, 10 investors have expressed interest in the energy sector, 9 in the manufacturing sector, 8 in the consulting, 6 in automotive, 5 in services, 5 in tourism, 4 infrastructure, 3 in agriculture, 3 in construction, 3 in mining, 3 in wholesale trade, 2 in financial services, 2 in real estate, 1 in airport services, 1 in education, 1 in the information and the technology and 1 in retail trade. Increased domestic and foreign investment is a key factor in economic growth. Hence, government policies aim to create favorable conditions for the business and still keep the spotlight on improving the business climate. Currently, the FDI's bulk (60%) in Albania is concentrated in the mining sector (mainly oil and gas); 13% in transport and communication, 9% in energy sector and 8% in real estate.
