Works on Vlora Airport Slated to Start This Year

TIRANA - Vlora airport, the biggest private investment worth Euro 100 million will be built within this year, meanwhile the government has started the feasibility study for tourist airport of Saranda and operation of Kukes airport.Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, told a news conference that the construction of Vlora airport has attracted the interest of three Turkish companies, which are also working on construction of Istanbul airport.

By government decision, a negotiating team made up of representatives of the line ministries will negotiate within a period of 90 days the details of this offer to continue with the contract signing and the beginning of construction works on Vlora airport, Gjiknuri said. According to Minister, Vlora airport will be bigger than Rinas airport while this investment worth Euro 100 mln will be completely private.
