Albania to issue 500 mln euro seven-year euro bond

Albania is expected to tap international capital markets for the first time since 2015 with a 500 million euro Eurobond. The issue will be over a 7 year period.  This was declared today by ministry of Economy and Finance, according to which, this is expected to be an important test for Albania. “Following an intensive week of meetings with investors in several European financial capitals, today we’re expecting the finalization of a very important process for Albanian economy and finances and for the credibility of the country in international financial centers”, the heads of this ministry said, adding that “a seven year maturity term would be a big achievement, as it reflects the trust that foreign investors have on the economy of the country”. Parliament has already granted the government approval to issue the euro bond, while the proceeds will be used to cover day-to-day financial needs and pay off an existing euro bond.
