IMF maintains Albania's 2018 GDP forecast at 3.7%

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it expects Albania's economy to grow by 3.7% in 2018, confirming its projection from October 2017. Albania's economic growth will accelerate to 3.8% in 2019 and 4% in 2023, the IMF said in April 2018 edition of its World Economic Outlook report published on Tuesday. Albania's economy grew by an estimated 3.9% in 2017, according to the report. According to the IMF, Albania's annual average consumer price inflation will accelerate to 2.5% in 2018 and 2.8% in 2019 from 2% in 2017. Albania's 2018 current account deficit is projected to fall to 6.7% of GDP from 7.2% in 2017. In 2019, the current account gap is forecast at 6.7% and it will narrow to 6.1% of GDP in 2023, the IMF said.
