Albania approves 240 mln euro deal for construction of Tirana-Diber highway

Albania's government said it approved a concession contract with local company Gjoka Konstruksion for the construction and maintenance  - under a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme - of the remaining part of the highway linking Tirana to Dibra region and neighbouring Macedonia. The estimated cost of the project is around 240 million euro ($298 million), with the sum to be paid in instalments by the government over 13 years according to the terms of the PPP scheme, the government said in a statement on Wednesday.  Gjoka Konstruksion is expected to complete the construction of the remaining 40 km of the 61.7 km-long highway in about four years, according to local media reports. The company won the concession contract in a tender held in October 2017.
